The problem

One checkup cannot cover a year of healing

For many mothers, postpartum care comes down to one short visit around week 6. Yet tissue repair, pelvic floor strength, abdominal muscles and hormones can take up to a year to settle.

  • Every cramp, spot of blood or bulge in your belly turns into a late-night search.
  • Normal healing gets mistaken for a problem, and real warning signs can get missed.
  • You walk into your appointment tired, and forget half of what you meant to ask.

Your first year, week by week

52 weeks of recovery. One of them usually includes a full checkup.

The solution

Guidance for all 52 weeks, not just the first six

Postpartum Recovery Compass maps your whole first year in five phases. Each week tells you what is typical for your body right now, what to watch for, and what to ask your provider.

Weeks 1–2

Immediate recovery

Day-by-day bleeding, pain and temperature checks while changes are fastest.

Free
Weeks 3–6

Early healing

Bleeding fades, stitches or incision close, and you prepare for your postnatal visit.

Free
Weeks 7–12

Rebuilding

Gentle core and pelvic floor work, return of periods, and a mood check-in.

Weeks 13–26

Strengthening

Hair shedding, scar changes and a gradual return to exercise and intimacy.

Weeks 27–52

Integration

Longer-term healing, abdominal separation progress, and when to get help that is still worth seeking.

How it works

Three steps, less than a minute a day

Built for tired hands and one-thumb use in the middle of the night.

  1. Enter your birth date and path

Choose vaginal or C-section birth, then tick anything that applies, such as a severe tear, an emergency C-section or preeclampsia. Your timeline adjusts.

  2. Open your current week

See what is typical for bleeding, your stitches or scar, your core and your hormones this week, with a quick log for days 1 to 14 and a checklist after that.

  3. Know the warning signs

Read the red-flag guide, based on public ACOG and NHS guidance: normal, call your provider today, or go to emergency care. Then bring your questions to your next visit.

Features

Everything you need to read your recovery

Red-flag guide

A clear three-level guide for warning signs like heavy bleeding, fever, a hot or leaking wound, severe headache or chest pain. When you log a symptom that public guidance lists as a warning sign, such as a temperature of 38 °C (100.4 °F) or more, the app points you to that guidance.

Week-by-week timeline

All 52 weeks of physical healing, from the first days to the end of your first year, in plain language.

Bleeding phase guide

Know when bleeding usually moves from red (lochia rubra) to pink-brown (serosa) to yellow-white (alba), and when a change means calling someone.

Core and scar check-ins

Weekly checklists for your perineum or C-section incision and for abdominal separation, with safe movement guidance for each stage.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Postpartum Recovery Compass?

Postpartum Recovery Compass is a week-by-week postpartum recovery guide that you install on your phone. It covers the first 52 weeks after a vaginal birth or a C-section: what is typical each week, which warning signs public guidance from ACOG and the NHS says to report, and questions to bring to your provider. Weeks 1 to 6 and the red-flag guide are free. Full access is a one-time $29 payment.

How long does postpartum recovery take?

Longer than the 6-week checkup suggests. Bleeding usually ends by weeks 4 to 6, but tissue repair, pelvic floor strength, abdominal muscles and hormones can take up to a year to settle. Healing varies from person to person, so ask your provider about your own recovery.

What is lochia, and how long does it last?

Lochia is the bleeding and discharge after birth. It usually moves from red (lochia rubra) in the first days, to pink or brown (lochia serosa), to yellow-white (lochia alba), and usually ends by weeks 4 to 6. Soaking a pad in an hour or less is an emergency sign: call 911 (US), 999 (UK) or 112 (EU).

Which types of birth are covered?

The app has two main paths, vaginal birth and C-section. You can then tick details that change what you should watch for:

  • a third or fourth degree tear
  • an emergency C-section
  • preeclampsia or high blood pressure
  • heavy bleeding after birth (postpartum hemorrhage)
  • gestational diabetes
I had an assisted birth with forceps or vacuum. Does it apply to me?

Yes. Choose the vaginal birth path. If you had a significant tear, tick it so your perineum guidance matches.

Does it cover C-section healing?

Yes. The C-section path follows incision care, scar changes, deep core recovery and when movements like lifting or driving are usually discussed with your provider.

Is this a replacement for medical advice?

No. It is an educational tool based on public guidance from ACOG and the NHS. It cannot diagnose you or replace your doctor, midwife or nurse. If something feels wrong, contact them, even if the app says it is common.

Are the warning signs behind the paywall?

Never. The red-flag guide and emergency numbers are free for everyone, paid or not.

How do I install it on my phone?

There is nothing to download from an app store. Open the app in your phone's browser, then:

  • iPhone: in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: tap Install when Chrome offers it, or open the menu (⋮) and choose Add to Home screen.

The app shows these steps the first time you open it. Once installed, it opens like any other app and works offline.

Where is my data stored?

Your logs and journal stay in your phone's browser. Our server only keeps your email, first name and payment status. You can export a backup at any time.

How long do I have access?

You pay $29 once and keep access, including for a future pregnancy. If you change phones, sign in again with your purchase email.
